I've worked with Will for several years now and he is nothing short of a top performance coach. His approach is incredibly attentive to the athlete's needs. His holistic, structured, well-balanced programming was perfectly tailored to my needs balancing football, running and strength work. Couldn't recommend him more.
Will has been training us for around a year now and has been absolutely brilliant at tailoring his sessions and being flexible to our requirements. We started with a couple of sessions to prepare for our wedding and have continued ever since. Quality training, really professional and super friendly. Would 100% recommend.
I've worked with Will for nearly 2 years: his guidance and programming have been invaluable. After two back injuries left me with sciatica, Will got me back to full mobility on the hockey field and beyond; I'm stronger and more agile than I was pre-injury. Knowledgeable and a leader in his field.
I started working with Will almost 2 years ago and not only has my physique improved but my confidence! Thanks to him, I feel confident to go to any gym!
The benefits of strength training
Everyday tasks get easier
Carrying the shopping, lifting a child, moving furniture: the loads of daily life feel lighter as your baseline strength rises. Ordinary tasks stop being tiring and start feeling well within your capacity.
Stronger bones and joints
Progressive loading places a healthy demand on bone and connective tissue. Strength training is widely recognised to support bone density and joint stability, building a body that holds up under load rather than breaking down from it.
Greater resilience to injury
A strong, well-conditioned body copes better with awkward movements, heavy days and the unexpected. Building strength around your joints helps them absorb and share load, which can reduce how easily you pick up niggles.
A more capable metabolism
Muscle built through strength work is active tissue that helps your body manage energy. Training it supports healthier body composition and metabolic health, and helps you make better use of the food you eat.
Confidence that carries beyond the gym
Getting measurably stronger changes how you feel in your own body. The capability you build under the bar tends to show up as better posture, presence and quiet confidence in everything else you do.
A foundation for every other goal
Strength underpins muscle, conditioning, longevity and performance alike. Build a genuine base of strength first and every other target you chase becomes faster to reach and easier to hold onto.
Strength explained
I train already, but I have stopped getting stronger.
That is the most common starting point I see, and it is almost never about effort. Plateaus come from programming: the same loads, the same rep ranges, and no structure deciding when to push and when to hold back. I build your programme in blocks, review what you actually lifted, and progress load when your performance shows you are ready. The structure, not extra effort, is what restarts progress.
I have never lifted weights properly. Is this for me?
Yes. You do not need to arrive strong: that is the point of coming. We start with an assessment of how you move, then I teach the main lifts from the ground up, at loads your body is ready for. Technique comes first, load is earned after, and the programme meets you exactly where you are from the first session.
I can only give this two or three hours a week.
Two to three focused strength sessions a week is exactly what I programme for most clients, because it is the dose that fits a demanding career and still compounds. The sessions are structured so every set has a job. If your week collapses, the plan flexes: hybrid and online clients train around travel constantly, and the programme adjusts at each check-in.
Recommended treatments
- Assessments & Testing The starting point: movement, lifting technique, and a strength baseline measured before a single line of programming is written.
- Personal Training 1-2-1 coaching in Marylebone and Mayfair, where technique is corrected within the set and load moves when your capacity supports it.
- Hybrid Coaching One in-person session a month keeps your lifting sharp while the app programme carries the strength work between visits.
FAQ
Frequently asked
questions
How long until I see strength gains?
Most clients feel more capable within three to four weeks as technique and coordination sharpen, with clearer strength gains over two to three months of consistent training. The exact rate depends on your starting point, training history, and recovery: all mapped at your first assessment.
Do I need gym experience to build strength?
No. Will works with everyone from complete beginners to experienced lifters. The programme starts wherever you are today and builds the fundamentals first, so you train safely from session one rather than against a standard you are expected to already meet.
How often should I train for strength?
For most people, two to three full-body strength sessions a week return the highest investment. The right number depends on your goals, schedule, and recovery capacity: it is agreed at the assessment stage and adjusted as your training history with Will builds over time.
